Just a quick post to show and tell really! You've already seen the UK jacket, it's only right . . . [ooh at this moment I should probably share with you that I've received the official UK jacket in the mail and it's totally shiny, kind of like aluminum - aluminium for our UK readers! So friggin cool!]
So the full thing:
And the thing in bits:
(synopsis - front flap)
(cover and spine)
(back cover with blurb [by Mr. Eoin Colfer - ehem])
(author bio and picture - back flap)
Isn't it just like so totally awesome!! The worn leather look! The octopus tentacles reaching round! The bar code! Yes a bar code!
Revel in the bar code my readers, revel in the bar code!

I absolutely love that photo of you, Adrienne!!
Let's see, are you a little bit excited about this?
YOU HAVE A BAR CODE!! WOOHOO!!
Wow. That's a beautiful cover. I have to admit, though with a cringe, I judge a book's cover, though I try not to judge the book by its cover. I figure it reflects good taste by the publishing house, a definite plus for the author! And this one is GORGEOUS - I love how the blurb is showcased by octopus tentacles...
That's a very nice jacket. And the photo of you on the back is fetching, almost exotic.
The name of your book - Ironic Gentleman - with the second word underlined - compels me to be polite. Even when trains fall on me.
Have I mentioned that my son worships Artemis Fowl?
linda - thanks! The photo is taken by headshot supremo Tim Leyes. He takes just about every actor's headshot here in Toronto, and aside from being amazing, he's also just really nice. YAY BAR CODE!
novice - Yay, thank you! Heck I don't mind Alex being judged on this cover at all at all. And aren't the tentacles awesome, I also really love how the back cover looks like an added bit on with string and everything!
john - thank you, and well I am most flattered - exotic indeed! I think the mark of a true gentleman is his reaction when a train falls on him. I am sure you scored high marks with that one.
MG - awesome! I still can't get over getting such a great blurb from such a cool author . . .
Great jacket and very nice headshot! If I looked like you I certainly wouldn't have a Crustacean for an avatar.
I'm so looking forward to the US debut.
You must be getting awfully excited!
Bee-you-tee-ful job they've done! No question this book will catch lots of eyes (and wallets) this fall.
I loved your previous post, btw--just too lazy to also comment there. I'm feeling protective of my book 2 as well, even as I'm trying to not feel naked over book 1 being out now in the UK.
As yours will be in only a handful of weeks!
Incredibly cool and gorgeous.
The bar code moment comes second only to seeing your product on the shelves, as one of life's most exhilarating experiences.
!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!! !!!! !!!!! !!!!!!!!
I love your author photo.
Can't WAIT to read the book!
Sweet!
HOLY SMOKES THAT IS AWESOME!!!!
crabby - yes I am getting rather excited. Yes. Rather.
therese - thanks! And it's been really interesting the responses I've been getting to the previous post. It seems like I'm not the only one who wants to keep it close to her chest. It's nice. Makes me feel like a real author!
mary - when my book is on shelves, I think this blog will be filled with more photos than it has ever had before! I may crash blogger! Heck, the whole internet!
erin - thanks! You may appreciate the difficulty in getting a good actor headshot, so I was SO pleased when I got mine last summer and they turned out so well!
Doug - "sweet" indeed. Like sugar babe, like sugar.
heidi - I KNOW!! ISN'T IT JUST?!
The cover looks awesome. It's all in the detail, my friend.
And your author shot! You look beautiful, sexy, mysterious and downright dropdead gorgeous - ALL AT THE SAME TIME!
I'm sure Ted is very proud of his mum , whoops mom, when you pick him up from school!
Congrats!!
I love the artwork and the photo of you. You are very photogenic.
But I'm really here to tell you I received my "prize" and will be reading it today or tomorrow (it's the weekend here in NZ)
P.S. I think the US cover is much better, but who makes the buying decision? Parents or children? I guess that would affect the sales, but honestly I adore the US/Canadian one and the UK one is fine too, but not as original or as exciting as the US cover
can i use your bio picture on my book?
dawn - please tell that to Ted. He always gets so embarrassed when we are out together in public!
talia - ooh yay! So cool to imagine my book all the way across the world! Glad it got to you safely! (and I hope you enjoy it!) I think as far as covers go it is such a taste thing. I know people who love the US one, others who think that it looks way too oldfashioned and that the UK one is fantastic. Still others love the German one best! I for one am just feeling lucky to have been given such great covers across the board.
JM - yes of course you may!
A lovely cover! Congrats! I can't wait to read it.
