Alex and the Ironic Gentleman out TODAY in the States!

Yes all, today is the official release date for Alex and the Ironic Gentleman in the U S of A!! So exciting!!! And of course I am totally in the wrong country for it! So again I request pictures of your glamorous selves and the American version of the book, and if anyone can get a shot of the book in store that would be awesome!!

Also, for those of you who have read the book, I am sending people over to Barnes and Noble and Amazon to write such oh so fabulous and glamorous reviews (cheeky of me, I know - I would do it myself but I think that might be a conflict of interest, besides I'm not so sure how generous I'd be towards myself . . . did you ever get those teachers in school who asked you to grade yourself? Man I hated those . . . anyway . . . ), so if you feel up to it, or are bored at work, or need an opportunity to procrastinate from writing . . . I would be so grateful! Thank you!

Ooh, even more exciting . . . I was also interviewed over at the Writerly Pause, so go check it out! We had such a good time, such a lovely group of people, and genuinely excited about books (some being authors in their own rights). Thanks guys so much again and, as Pat put it, you rock!

Now for a few more pictures of lovely readers!

First we have Heather [and her cat], a fellow Canadian and part of my original focus group when I needed help editing the book. Look how intensely she reads, it's because I am sure she is reading a very intense moment (not posing for the camera at all . . . ).

Then we fly across the ocean to Germany where I present to you all the first evidence that, yes, the German version of my book does exist in hard copy, and yes still has the world's best title. Holding said tome is Mira, the daughter of a friend of fellow AWer Sharon! Doesn't she look thrilled to be in possession of my book (and isn't she just adorable! And doesn't my book look HUGE in her hands?)!

I really love these pictures, so please keep them coming! And of course I won't post anything without your permission - but come on, who doesn't want the fame that comes with being featured on The Temp, The Actress, and The Writer? Exactly!

I'll be honest: I'm slightly annoyed that this book, by a Canadian author, is coming out in Canada last.

On the other hand: we get the authoritative version, SUCKAS! :P

(PS - I want to hollow out the German version and live in it and be the envy of bungalow owners everywhere.)

And we celebrated with teeny weeny bottles of champagne!

And I got to hold the book. It is luscious.

Thanks everyone!

kanani - yes I totally saw it!! So cool!

the neer!!!!! So cool of you to stop by, and thanks for the congrats!

maureen - thanks and me too!!

melodyo - isn't it huge!

snarkfodder - well it's a weird story, but basically I was living in the UK at the time so sold there first (the UK sale included Canada), then the Americans bought the book and said they would release it in October, so the Canadians decided to release it at that same time, but then the Americans changed their minds. And that is why we get it last here. Grr. BUT I am doing a signing Oct 14 in Toronto for anyone in the area!

lesley - stupid little bottles of champagne, when I got home I suddenly realised I was way more tipsy than I had thought!

It's really funny. When I got the ARC, I had no idea that the hardcover would be so big! That's a proper book! The type a kid would keep forever!

I have floated over from Pat's blog and just wanted to let you know that I finished Alex and the Ironic Gentleman last night. Loved it! Took me right back to my childhood and made me get lost in the story. I hope it's going to be a series? Alex is a great character and a wonderful role model for young girls.

Congratulations on the American launch, Adrienne. It must be so exciting seeing the book in all these other languages too. I'm green with envy but in a "love you" way!

Woohoo, congratulations!

Won't have a chance to purchase it until this weekend, but that is at the top of my to-do list! In fact, I'm driving an extra 15 minutes to the B&N (instead of the Borders) because I understand publishers really track those B&N sales.

Can't wait to read it!

*pouting*

Pat got a signed ARC. Grumble grumble grumble.

I'll have to live with my UNsigned ARC.

Although it has been around the block a few times(friends keep wanting to read it), and now has doggie teeth marks in it (one "friend" forgot to be careful with it).

*sigh*

Adrienne, you probably already know this but I was just flicking through the latest Children's Writers & Artists yearbook and your name is listed as a client under the Darly Anderson listing. How cool is that. KUDOS.
